About ioby ArkansasNorthwest Arkansas has rapidly grown in the past decade and is home to an expansive number of racially and ethnically diverse communities. The region is also rich with natural beauty, from hiking trails to lakes. However, it is still grappling with the long-term repercussions of Jim Crow-era laws, intimidation, and violence used to discriminate against African-Americans in regions commonly known as “Sundown Towns,” tactics used in many towns in Northern Arkansas and the Ozarks region, including Rogers and Springdale. ioby works to help Black, Indigenous, and POC communities to assert themselves spatially, as well as to uplift histories that have been buried and erased due to white supremacy. These include:
- Northwest Arkansas Black Heritage, an organization dedicated to preserving, documenting, and promoting the rich heritage and culture of Black communities in Northwest Arkansas.They fill the gaps that exist in documented history while exposing the systemic racism and inequality that continues to plague society.
- SAMHATI, which hosts an annual “three day extravaganza” in celebration of Durga Puja, an annual Hindu festival that pays homage to the Hindu goddess Durga.
- Latinas En Bici's Biciescuela (Bike School), a four week course aimed at teaching Latinas basic bike skills, like learning to ride, rules of the road, minor repair, and safety.
- Our free resources and guidance about how to crowdfund.
- A one-on-one coach to teach you how to successfully crowdfund donations.
- Curriculum with worksheets like this one to learn new techniques for donor engagement.
- Fiscal sponsorship to groups that are not a nonprofit.
- Low fees because we are a nonprofit here to help grassroots organizations.
